Hello! What is Going on with This Pandemic?

"Sarah Ferguson tweets that Coronavirus is Mother
Nature's punishment of feckless mankind."

(we are destroying her planet so this is payback)

Some religious leaders around the world (and of different faiths)
are saying it is "god" who is punishing humanity for ignoring the deity.

A few scientists are claiming this is a natural rhythm of life to thin out the population.

I am not satisfied with any of these conclusions but do suggest it is wise for us to stop and think.  IS GOD TRYING TO GET OUR ATTENTION?  "HELLO!"   "Are you listening?"  "PAY ATTENTION"  With this then are a series of related questions springing up about what we value most in life and how we take care of one another and the planet?   Do we need to make some adjustments?

This seemed to be a pattern in the Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament).  Israel would stray away from God or simply just not pay attention.  They would get themselves in trouble.  God, their loving Father, would try to intervene through a prophet, judge, or a neighboring nation.  Israel would continue to resist and get further in trouble.  Thankfully, there were also times in which they paid attention, repented and returned to God's good ways.

The story of Jonah and the Ninevites is similar.  God sent Jonah to warn them of their wickedness and when he finally removed the seaweed and washed his body from the contents of the big fish's belly, the Ninevites listened.   This to me is more the theme of the Bible, made very clear in the New Testament.

One of the most famous verses in the Bible is John 3:16 which says:  "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life."HELLO!"   Are you listening?  GOD IS LOVE!  Perhaps God is reminding us with a virus how much He loves us and how much we need Him!

As a Christian, I do not live in fear these days.  God my Creator, Redeemer and Lord loves me, is concerned about me, and is helping me navigate through the daily challenges of life (big or small).  His plans are good, although often beyond our comprehension.  We must admit, many people in the world have turned their backs to God's love and purposes.  Perhaps it is time for all of us to

I would love to talk with you if you want to chat about these thoughts.  I have a good listening ear and the time.  Give me a call at 8395-9653.
In Christ, our hope and rock!
